The beginning of this semester, the master students took off at TEXTURE, a museum on textile and flax in Kortrijk. This visit formed the starting point of the research phase in this semester, in which the students investigated different types of fibres and the way they can be processed into a textile. Plant based, synthetic, recycled, animal or regenerated? How do we define fibres in these categories? What are their properties? How have these fibres been applied in the past? Wat makes a textile a textile? Phase I in our research investigates the history and definition of these fibre groups, whereas phase II in the research was focussed on experimenting with different techniques to create textile.
