Verb: To co-create/ Material: Larch PlanksEvery 15 years, the Parc Naturel Régional des Caps et Marais d’Opale produces a charter to guide the region’s development, organizing a series of co-creation workshops aimed at understanding and preserving local know-how. In this context, the barn together with its materials and construction techniques serves as an ideal case study for exploring the region’s building heritage. The folly acts as a support structure for these activities, using the barn both as an object of study and as a site of intervention, connecting different generations. In its design, the existing cladding is reinterpreted as structure, envelope, and workbench. This transformation is achieved by dividing each plank into two halves, one with a flat edge and the other with its natural profile. Adopting a pragmatic approach, the final design emerged from counting how much could be built using the available materials and from understanding how these elements could be assembled to form a structure composed exclusively of the planks themselves.
