Escargot shell plaster
Anett Maiste
Verb: To embrace/ Material: Escargot shell plasterReferencing L’Escargotière du Choquel, the folly adopts a spiral, embracing form inspired by the escargot shell. It proposes an architecture of care: an embrace of self, knowledge and community. Smooth and rough escargot plaster define zones of interaction, inviting the body to sit, observe and read. Integrated seating, bookshelves and a viewing platform frame views toward the escargot farm and across the barn, anchoring the folly within its agricultural context. Rather than a monument, the folly is an inhabited threshold that holds, shelters and connects.
